Dear lazyweb, I am interested in alternatives to Google Analytics that are not tracking behemoths. Perhaps local install. Experience?
@aardrian Have a look at Fathom:
You can self-host or use their hosted service. One of their creators is on Masto: @dvk
@teleclimber @dvk Awesome, had not heard of it before. Thanks!
@aardrian @dvk Yeah I'm glad it exists. We really need an alternative to GA but the heft of Matomo is a turn-off for small or personal sites.
If you use it please do tell how it worked for you.
@teleclimber @dvk Can do.
@aardrian @teleclimber We’d love to hear any feedback you might have. 🙂 It’s still fairly early stage but we’re making steady progress, I’ve personally already ditched GA for Fathom entirely.
@dvk @teleclimber Still deciding which direction I will go, but I am not shy about offering feedback. Thanks!
@aardrian @dvk This just popped up on my radar:
$12/month, as many sites as you want.
@teleclimber @aardrian Saw that on ProductHunt too, hope they can hold true to that “unlimited” promise. And hopefully they’ll open-source at some point.
@dvk @aardrian Yes the "unlimited" thing sounds like regrets about to happen for the dev.
